What I’m Reading

Just started

The Book of Awakening (Conari Press) by Mark Nepo.  This inspirational book of daily reflections and “exercises” was loaned to me by my good friend and poet, Glenis Redmond. I’m not sure she ever get it back!  I’ve been making a habit of reading on passage daily, as part of my early morning ritual.

Recently finished

The World’s Greatest: Poems (Chronicle) by J. Patrick Lewis, ill. Keith Graves.  Pat Lewis is one of my Po-Heroes.  This is one of those book concepts that I wish I’d thought of myself.  Poems written about wacky world record holders!

Fingerprints of You by my new friend, Kristen-Paige Madonia.  Excellent writing.  So happy to read a deep, rich compelling story with no wizards, monsters, vampires, or shape-shifters.

Stiff: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers by Mary Roach.  I LOVED this look at what happens to our vessels once we “abandon ship.”

Come August, Come Freedom (Candlewick Press) by my good friend, Gigi Amateau, who has written an exquisite book about a runaway slave set in the early 1800s.  This is very well-written historical fiction; my literary cup of tea.
